City Divisions & Departments

Responding to the changing needs of a growing community, in 2013 the City of Barrie introduced new portfolios and reorganized the working structure of the organization in order to be positioned to best serve our community. The changes are supported through reallocations of existing positions and current vacancies and results in no new costs.

Effective May 1, 2013, the re-aligned corporation is comprised of two Divisions — Community and Corporate Services, and Infrastructure and Growth Management — and three Strategic Portfolios that focus on Council’s key priorities. The three Strategic Portfolios are: Invest Barrie, which will bring together several city departments to provide a more comprehensive and collaborative approach to investment in the city; Access Barrie, which will put a new focus on improved customer service and information channels for residents; and Innovate Barrie, which will help the city to achieve greater efficiencies, increase productivity and improve service.
