In May 2013 the City introduced new portfolios and reorganized the working structure of the organization in order to be positioned to best serve our community.
The City began the organizational review when one of the three General Manager positions became vacant in summer of 2012 prompting the opportunity to analyze the corporate structure relative to functional gaps and improved alignments. The process was conducted by the City’s Executive Management Team in consultation with Council, the Senior Leadership Team, and staff across the corporation.
The re-aligned corporation is comprised of two divisions: Community and Corporate Services and Infrastructure and Growth Management, and three strategic portfolios that focus on Council’s key priorities. The three strategic portfolios are Invest Barrie, Access Barrie, and Innovate Barrie. The changes were supported through reallocations of existing positions and vacancies and resulted in no new costs.
The end result is an organizational structure positioned to best support Council’s goals with a focus on improving customer service to the community, continuous improvement within the organization as well as enhancing economic development.
