PRESS RELEASECalling All Community Groups & Homegrown Talent!
Wednesday, March 14, 2012

The City of Barrie is currently accepting applications from community groups, not-for-profit organizations, and local performers interested in being a part of Celebrate Barrie on Saturday, June 2nd.

Celebrate Barrie is a great opportunity for community groups and not-for-profit organizations to promote their programs, services, and events to the community in a fun environment.  These groups are required to provide free, unique hands-on activities and a booth space is provided in exchange.  Interested groups are asked to submit information on their organization, contact information, and a creative idea for a hands-on activity.

There are also two stages programmed with a showcase of homegrown talent – bands, choirs, dance, theatre, and individuals – from a variety of cultural backgrounds and styles.  The Celebrate Barrie stage is an opportunity to celebrate the talent of local artists and build a local fan base.  Those interested can submit a bio, promotion package, or electronic press kit which should include a sample of a recent performance or recording for the selection committee to review – CD, DVD, or link to a website, MySpace or YouTube site.

All submissions will be accepted until Friday, March 23rd at 4:30pm.
