In 2012 the City of Barrie,  participated in Culture Days, a collaborative movement created to encourage awareness, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their respective communities.  The Culture Days committee partnered with several exciting initiatives in the community, Doors Open, Arts ce Soir and Carnegie Days and brought to Barrie a weekend of amazing cultural activities.  
 
This year the organizing committee is eager to expand the project even further and they are welcoming new and fresh ideas. The initial information session for Culture Days will be held on Monday May 7, 2012 in the City Hall Rotunda from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.  If you would like to volunteer for the event, sponsor someone, form a new partnership or put forth your creative ideas, please mark your calendar and plan to attend the information session.
 
In addition, anyone with a specific talent and wishing to perform or anyone who owns a venue appropriate for a performance or demonstration is also encouraged to attend.
 
The evening will include a presentation from Catherine McLeod from the Culture Days provincial office  on developing Culture Days initiatives.  If you are interested in attending please r.s.v.p. to the Department of Culture at culture@barrie.ca or call 705-739-4299.  Light refreshments will be served.
