PRESS RELEASEIt’s Time to Celebrate Barrie!
Tuesday, May 29, 2012

Please note that the outdoor showing of “The Muppets” has now been scheduled for Tuesday June 5th at Centennial Beach at dusk (approx. 9:15 pm). The show had been postponed due to inclement weather on the weekend.

Come celebrate our community at Celebrate Barrie this weekend!  Everyone’s invited to the City of Barrie’s free community festival on Saturday, June 2nd.

“Celebrate Barrie will be an incredible experience for families to get outside and enjoy all of the beautiful things that Barrie has to offer,” says Arin Donnelly, Community Events Programmer. “Celebrate Barrie will allow residents to relax and reconnect with their city while participating in a variety of free, fun activities.”

The main event runs from 10:00am to 5:00pm at Centennial Park and will feature a variety of free activities provided by over 50 local community groups.  Celebrate Barrie also features inflatables and games, snakes and reptiles, a Town Crier contest, petting zoo, rock climbing wall, two stages programmed with amazing local talent, and so much more – there’s something to entertain the kid in everyone!

The Barrie Youth Battle of the Bands kicks-off Friday night beginning at 7:00pm on the Star Stage located at Centennial Beach. This free concert will feature some of Barrie’s most talented up-and-coming bands with members from 11-19 competing for great prizes.

After a busy day at Celebrate Barrie, bring your blankets and lawn chairs to Centennial Beach for a night with the family under the stars presented in partnership with the Barrie Film Festival.  This year’s outdoor film will feature ‘The Muppets’ beginning at dusk (approximately 9:15pm) on Saturday night.
