Environmental Assessment (EA) Studies

EA studies provide for the protection, conservation and wise management of Ontario's environment by evaluating the potential environmental effects of a project or undertaking before decisions are made about proceeding.

To evaluate design alternatives and identify the preferred design alternative for transportation improvements on Bryne Drive, Harvie Road and Essa Road.

Drainage Master Plan
To consider design alternatives and establish the preferred recommended design alternative for drainage improvements throughout Barrie.

Master Plan Update: Multi-Modal Active Transportation
Review existing conditions; identify transportation improvements to accommodate growth; identify and assess alternatives based on modal split and identify a preferred alternative solution; develop a long-range implementation plan to 2041.

Master Plan Updates: Water Supply, Water Distribution & Storage, Wastewater Collection, & Wastewater Treatment
To identify future water and wastewater servicing needs to accommodate residential and employment growth, intensification, optimal design and delivery of water and wastewater servicing city-wide.

Purpose: Consider design alternatives and establish the preferred recommended design alternative for drainage improvements within the Sophia Creek Watershed.

Purpose: Consider design alternatives, consult public and establish the preferred recommended design alternative for transportation improvements in the Hewitt's Secondary Plan Area.

McKay Rd East / Hwy 400 Interchange, Lockhart Rd / Salem Rd Highway 400 Crossing
Purpose: Consider design alternatives, consult public and establish the preferred design alternative for transportation improvements on McKay Road East - Highway 400 Interchange, Lockhart Road/Salem Road Highway 400 Crossing and associated works.

Salem Secondary Plan Area Transportation Improvements
Purpose: Consider design alternatives, consult public and establish the preferred recommended design alternative for transportation improvements in the Salem Secondary Plan Area.

Comprehensive Stormwater Management Master Plan (CSWM-MP)
Purpose: Consider alternative stormwater management strategies to improve stormwater quality, water balance and erosion control.  This study also includes a preliminary assessment of alternative funding sources to operate a financially sustainable stormwater management system.
