Business Licences

Most businesses require a City of Barrie Business Licence.  Contact Municipal Law Enforcement at 739-4241 or visit 45 Cedar Point Drive, Barrie for further information.

Dog Licences

All dogs in the City of Barrie must be licensed annually. For more information about how to obtain a dog licence, please call the Municipal Law Enforcement Division at 739-4241.

All dogs must be leashed when not on the owner's property. The maximum length of the leash is 6 feet.

Dogs may be walked in all parks, provided they are on a leash, unless otherwise regulated (i.e. waterfront parks).  In waterfront parks, dogs may only be walked on the designated walking path and dogs must be on a leash. Dog owners are reminded to always 'stoop and scoop'!

Lottery Licences

All lottery events must be licensed.  Applicants must be a registered charitable or non-profit organization to be eligible to conduct a lottery event and must meet provincial criteria.  It is illegal to conduct a lottery without a licence.

On Street Parking

Unless otherwise signed or metered, you can park on a street in Barrie. However, residents are reminded that during the period from November 1 to April 15 of each year, parking of a vehicle on any street or part of a street within the City of Barrie, between the hours of 12 am and 7 am is prohibited and subject to a $30.00 fine. Within the Downtown Business Improvement Area, on street parking is prohibited between November 1 between the hours of 3 am and 6 am.

By keeping the City streets clear of vehicles during this period, you allow the City crews access to help to ensure that your roadways are maintained and that large emergency vehicles can get down the street.  Parking is prohibited over sidewalks and the City boulevards.
