EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

Welcome to the Human Resources Department.    The City of Barrie’s Human Resources Department directs all corporate human resource management activities including recruitment, training and development, wage and salary administration, staff relations, labour-management relations, and occupational health and safety.

Please note:  We are often confused with the Human Resource Centre of Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC).  A department of the Federal Government, HRDC looks after Employment Insurance, Social Insurance Numbers, the Canada Pension Plan, etc.  You can contact them by telephone at (705) 728-2468 or electronically at www.hrdc-drhc.gc.ca/common/home.shtml.     If you wish to apply for a driver position with Barrie Transit or BACTS, please services are contracted out by Penetang Midland Coach Lines (PMCL), and applications and inquiries should be sent directly to them.

 

 

EMPLOYMENT APPLICATIONS

  • Part-time or summer jobs in the Leisure, Transit and Facilities Department (see below), all applications for jobs with the City of Barrie should be submitted to the City's Human Resources Department.
  • Interested candidates are invited to submit an application outlining experience and qualifications, by the expiry date indicated in each advertisement, by accessing our Employment Opportunities website.
  • Due to the number of applications received, we cannot acknowledge receipt of all applications.  Only those applicants to be interviewed will be contacted.
  • Applications are maintained on file for a period of six months.
  • We thank all applicants and advise that only those to be interviewed will be contracted.  Personal information is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act, S.O. 2001, c. 25 and will be used to determine employment eligibility.  Please direct inquiries to the Human Resources Department at (705) 739-4202.
