Celebrate Barrie

The City presents Celebrate Barrie 2016, our 17th annual community festival, on Saturday June 4th at Centennial Park.

Join us for free fun for all ages, including inflatables, educational displays, heritage village, entertainment, over 50 community groups providing activities, and so much more. The festivities kick off Friday evening with the Youth Battle of the Bands and close Saturday with a family film on the beach. We look forward to celebrating with you!

Science North

One of Ontario's most popular family attractions will take you 'Out of This World' with tons of cool space-themed science.

Caricatures

Have your portrait drawn as a memento of your special day at Celebrate Barrie.

Heritage Village

Take a journey back in time and explore life in the early 19th century.  You will be amazed!

  • Cannon firing, musket firing and drills, blacksmithing, coopering, mast & derrick, and gun boat tactical demonstrations
  • Royal Newfoundland Regiment Military encampment
  • British Royal Navy encampment and displays
  • War of 1812 displays and exhibits, surgeon demonstrations, uniforms, and more
  • Civilian encampment with cooking and sewing demonstrations
  • Aboriginal demonstrations, including storytelling, drumming, finger-weaving, and more
  • And everyone's favourite - the candy cannon!

Fire & Police Display

Barrie Police Service and Barrie Fire & Emergency Service will be on hand with vehicles, equipment, special activities, and safety information. You might even get to meet Blue, the Barrie Police mascot!

Learn to Skateboard & Scooter

Try skateboarding and scootering with Evolve Skate Camp or watch their professional instructors in action. Great for kids 6-12, safety equipment provided.

FireGuy Skateboard Show
11am, 1pm, & 3pm
 

All a-board! The FireGuy Skateboard Fire Show returns to Celebrate Barrie to entertain the crowds! FireGuy is a world-travelling, fire-juggling skateboarder who has a burning desire to entertain. You'll see him juggle fire, jump, and more all while on skateboard. After the 11am and 1pm shows, kids can stick around to learn more about the art of FireGuy's performance and check out some of his unique circus props. Don't miss his claim to flame!

Starlight Cinema presents Ratatouille
Centennial Park at dusk (approximately 9pm)
*Weather permitting (rain date - June 11th)

After a fun-filled day at Celebrate Barrie, experience the soft glow of the silver screen as you enjoy an outdoor film at the beach! Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for a night with your family under the stars.  Kettle corn and drinks available!

Ratatouille
Rated G, 1 hour 51 minutes, Animation/Comedy (2007)
In one of Paris' finest restaurants, Remy, a determined young rat, dreams of becoming a renowned French chef. Torn between his family's wishes and his true calling, Remy and his pal Linguini set in motion a hilarious chain of events that turns the City of Lights upside down. Ratatouille won Best Animated Feature Film at the 2008 Academy Awards and Golden Globes.
