Celebrate our community with FREE family fun!  Celebrate Barrie is our annual community celebration held in beautiful Centennial Park along the shore of Kempenfelt Bay.

Mark your calendars for the 13th annual event on Saturday, June 2nd, 2012  from 10:00am to 5:00pm.  The festivities feature rides and inflatables, petting zoo and animal displays, local entertainment, and over 50 community groups providing hands-on activities for kids - all for free!

This year, Celebrate Barrie will commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the War of 1812 with some very special heritage programming, including an expanded historic village with entertainment, demonstrations, and re-enactments.  Click on the related link to find out all of the details about the exciting festivities to be held June 1st to 3rd, 2012 in Heritage Park.

  • MacLaren Art Centre – explore your creative side with a fun and artistic activity
  • Sciensational Sssnakes – check out the snakes, frogs, turtles and more…you may even get to hold a snake!
  • BodyZorbs – roll, flip, race, crash, and bounce inside your own human-size ball
  • Town Crier Contest - Town Criers from across the province will compete to be named the top Crier!  Arts Stage - round 1 at 10:30am, round 2 at 3:00pm
  • Fire & Police Display - Barrie Police Service and Barrie Fire & Emergency Service will be on hand with vehicles and information

After a fun day at Celebrate Barrie, experience the soft glow of the silver screen as you enjoy an outdoor film at the beach!  Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for a night with the family under the stars.

Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary and Mary discover the Muppet Theatre will soon be torn down.  An oil tycoon has recently discovered oil beneath the Muppets' former stomping grounds. To stage the Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theatre, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit the Frog reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways.

Starring Jason Segal, Amy Adams, and Chris Cooper.  Rated G, 103 minutes.

Battle of the Bands

Barrie’s Young Peoples’ Centre presents the Celebrate Barrie Battle of the Bands on Friday, June 1st!  If you're in a band with members age 11-19 from Barrie and interested in performing, submit a letter or email of interest.  Please include a biography, contact information, and a sample of a recent performance or recording for the selection committee to review.  This could include a CD/DVD or link to EPK, MySpace, YouTube, or other website with examples of audio/video.

Submissions will be accepted until Friday, April 20th at 4:30pm.
