Stellulafest 2012: The Ultimate Guitar Face-off
Thursday May 17th, 2012 - 7:00pm
Hamilton musician Jacob Moon will headline Stellulafest 2012: The Ultimate Guitar Face-Off accompanied by fiddler Aaron Solomon.
Moon shot to fame recently after posting a YouTube video of his celebrated one-man folk version of the Rush classic "Subdivisions." The video caught the attention of the band, who asked him to perform at their induction into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. After seeing the clip, Geddy Lee (lead singer of Rush) said "Jacob's version brings a different dynamic and perspective to the melodies and lyrics of "Subdivisions." I find it really interesting to hear the song in such a different light and found it very engaging."
Moon was also asked to sing at the 2012 Rush convention and at the premiere screening of "Beyond the Lighted Stage," a documentary about the band's forty year history.
StellulaFest 2012 is an opportunity for youth to compete for a Brian May Signature Guitar valued at $900.00. The grand prize package also includes studio time and a session with a professional guitarist. Interested students must submit samples of their work by April 27th. The top three finalists will perform live for an audience and a panel of six industry judges. One of the final three will be crowned "Rural Ontario's Best Youth Guitarist." The evening will close with a concert performed by Jacob Moon.
