Committee of Adjustment
The City of Barrie has established a Committee of Adjustment to deal with applications for consents and minor variances. The Committee is made up of five members, appointed by City Council to serve a four-year term.
The Planning Act grants authority to hear development applications for:
- Minor variances from the provisions of a Zoning By-law; or enlargement, extension or alteration of a legal non-conforming use of land, buildings or structures;
- Consent or severance of a parcel of land for the following purposes: a. Creating a new lot;
b. Lot adjustments and extensions;
c. Leases, Rights–of-ways and easements over 21 years;
d. Corrections to deeds or property descriptions.
The Committee of Adjustment holds regular Public Hearings to consider the applications that fall within its mandate. The meetings are open to the public and any interested party can appear before the Committee to present their views, in support or in opposition, to an application.
Below you will find a list of the most recent Public Hearings along with all notices, decisions and minutes for each hearing for your perusal.
