Committee of Adjustment

The City of Barrie has established a Committee of Adjustment to deal with applications for consents and minor variances. The Committee is made up of five members, appointed by City Council to serve a four year term (2011-2015).

This committee has the authority to hear development applications for;

1. Minor variances from the provisions of a Zoning By-law; or enlargement, extension or alteration of a legal non-conforming use of land, buildings or structures;
2. Consent or severance of a parcel of land for the following purposes:
   1. Creating a new lot;
   2. Lot adjustments and extensions;
   3. Leases, Rights–of-ways and easements over 21 years;
   4. Corrections to deeds or property descriptions.

Public Hearings

The Committee of Adjustment holds regular Public Hearings to consider the applications that fall within its mandate.
