Business Licensing

In 2009, the City of Barrie reviewed the classifications of businesses licensed under our General Licensing By-law (2006-266), the application process, procedures, practices, tools and business license fees, resulting in a simplified business licensing process. The categories requiring licensing was also reduced, the new business license fees now reflect only those costs directly related to the licensing process; and there was a reduction in the number and type of inspections for applicants renewing their business license.
