Promote the planning, development and management of an ecologically sensitive and environmentally balanced community which encourages the sustainable use of our superior water, land and air resources.
GOVERNANCE AND SERVICE EXCELLENCE
Maintain our status as a single tier municipality to ensure an efficient, accountable and cost effective government for the taxpayer. Promote a consultative approach to governance and provide direct access to a responsible local Council. Encourage innovative financing opportunities including public and private partnerships. Improve access, efficiency, and effectiveness by using technology, where possible, to ensure services meet the needs of our community.
Celebrate Barrie’s superior quality of life by encouraging community Identification. Enhance civic pride through participation and innovative partnerships, and continue to provide cultural and recreational opportunities and special events throughout the City.
Encourage community diversity, equality and understanding through the provision of cultural, social, educational and recreational programs, facilities and
opportunities which foster personal growth and development.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation links both within the city and beyond are vital to the economic strength and well-being of our community. Continue to work with our Provincial and Federal partners to ensure transit options are available for seamless inter- municipal transportation of both people and goods. Provide public transportation systems that are safe, accessible and convenient.
PLAN FOR OUR FUTURE
In future planning initiatives, employ the principles of promoting and managing growth to sustain a strong economy, build a strong community and promote a healthy environment.
