Push the Button!
Barrie Fire and Emergency Service, the Office of the Fire Marshal and TVOKids are teaming up to raise awareness about testing smoke alarms. Help get the message out about the “Push the Button!” campaign. We want as many smoke alarms tested in as many Ontario homes as possible between Monday, February 24 and Sunday, March 9.
Normally when the clocks change the fire service likes to remind people to check their smoke alarm batteries. Now TVO Kids is joining in to help us remind families and also make it a fun project for kids.
Kids can ‘push the button’ with their parents help to make sure the smoke alarm beeps and then go to TVOKids.com to put in how many buttons they pushed in their home to check their smoke alarms. The number will be added to TVOKids “Push the Button!” counter.
The campaign runs until Sunday, March 9 when the clocks spring forward.
Over 60, 000 alarms have been tested in Ontario since the “Push the Button!” campaign started in 2012. The campaign takes place for two weeks every spring and fall when the clocks change.
