Downtown Parking
There are more than 2000 public parking spaces within walking distance to some of the best restaurants, shopping experiences, culture and entertainment in beautiful downtown Barrie.
Current Rates (except for Collier Street Parkade)
- $1 per hour on-street
- $.75 per hour off-street with $5.50 daily max
- $.25 minimum parking payment (1 hour minimum for credit cards)
- Enforcement - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday
- Parking is Free evenings, weekends and statutory holidays
Collier Street Parkade
The Collier Street Parkade is a fully accessible, brightly lit, 7 level parking facility with over 300 public parking spaces located on Collier Street between Clapperton Street and Owen Street. The Collier Street Parkade provides convenient access to both Collier Street and Dunlop Street and is within walking distance to the newly completed Mady Centre for the Performing Arts.
Collier Street Parkade Rates
- $1 per hour
- $.25 minimum parking payment (1 hour minimum for credit cards)
- Enforcement: 7:30am to 11:00pm Monday to Sunday
- Parking is free from 11:00pm to 7:30am Monday to Sunday and on statutory holidays
Monthly Permits
Yellow: $60.00 plus applicable taxes
Green: $75.00 plus applicable taxes
Blue: $80.00 plus applicable taxes

Monthly Parking Permits for the Collier Street Parkade (Blue permits) will be honoured in lots requiring Green or Yellow permits, and Green permits will be honoured in lots requiring Yellow permits. The issuance of a permit does not ensure space is available in the intended lot.

Parking Tips
- For quick trips or errands utilize our 2-hour on-street parking spots at $1.00 per hour.
- For day trips or extended appointments, utilize one of our many convenient lots located throughout the downtown area at $0.75 per hour to a maximum rate of $5.50.
- Parking control devices will only accept (25C, $1.00 & $2.00 coins) quarters, loonies and toonies, with a quarter buying 15 minutes on-street and 20 minutes off-street (except for Collier Street Parkade).

Payment may be made by coin at all on-street and off-street locations with credit card payments available at various locations. The City of Barrie is in the process of updating “pay & display” machines to make credit card payment more widely available. Monthly permits are also available for our off-street parking lots. Monthly permits are available for sale (see above for locations).

The hourly rate to park on the street is $1.00 per hour and $0.75 per hour with a $5.50 daily maximum to park within a municipal parking lot. The cost of a monthly parking permit is $60, $75 or $80 depending on the lot. Please refer to the Downtown Parking Map for additional information regarding monthly permit parking.

Hours of Enforcement of Municipal Parking By-Laws are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm with on-street free parking for the first 2 hours for the month of December 2012 in the downtown core. All Off-street parking including the Collier Street Parkade will require payment during the month of December 2012.
