Collier Street Parkade

The Collier Street Parkade is a fully accessible, brightly lit, 7 level parking facility with over 300 public parking space located on Collier Street between Clapperton Street and Owen Street. The Collier Street Parkade provides convenient access to both Collier Street and Dunlop Street and is within walking distance to the newly completed Mady Centre for the Performing Arts.

  • $.75 per hour off-street with $5.50 daily max
  • $.25 minimum parking payment
  • Parking is Free evenings, weekends and statutory holidays

Parking Tips

  • For quick trips or errands utilize our 2-hour on-street parking spots at $1.00 per hour.
  • For day trips or extended appointments, utilize one of our many convenient lots located throughout the downtown area at $0.75 per hour to a maximum rate of $5.50.
  • Parking meters will only accept quarters, loonies and toonies, with a quarter buying 15 minutes on-street and 20 minutes off-street with some exceptions.

Where are the Downtown Municipal Parking lots located? Answer
Review the Downtown Parking Map which identifies the location of the parking lots within the Downtown.
What payment options are available when I park downtown? Answer
Payment may be made by coin at all on-street and off-street locations with credit card payments available at various locations as identified on the Downtown Parking Map. The City of Barrie is in the process of updating “pay & display” machines to make credit card payment more widely available. Monthly permits are also available for our off-street parking lots. Monthly permits are available for sale (see above for locations).
How much does it cost to park downtown? Answer
The hourly rate to park on the street is $1.00 per hour and $0.75 per hour with a $5.50 daily maximum to park within a municipal parking lot. The cost of a monthly parking permit is either $55 or $70 depending on the parking lot. Please refer to the Downtown Parking Map for additional information regarding monthly permit parking.
When am I required to pay for parking downtown and will it be free in December 2011? Answer
Payment for parking is required Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm with off-street free parking to be provided for the month of December 2011. On-street parking and parking within the Collier Street Parkade will require payment during the month of December 2011.
Am I permitted to park for free if I have an Accessible Parking Permit or Disabled Person Parking Permit? Answer
Individuals displaying a valid Accessible Parking Permit or Disabled Person Parking Permit are permitted to park for free in all municipal paid parking locations but are require too abide by any time limits which may apply to that location.
Am I permitted to park for free if I have an Ontario veteran license plate? Answer
Vehicles which have an Ontario veteran license plate are permitted to park for free in all municipal paid parking locations but are required to abide by any time limits which may apply to that location.
