Communities in Bloom 2012
The City of Barrie is proud to participate in the International Communities in Bloom Program (100,001 to150,000 population category) in 2012. This is our 15th year participating in Communities in Bloom and with thanks to the efforts of our community we received another five bloom rating in the International category last year. We were also honored to be presented the Special Award for our Floral Display Program.
To continue with our success, residents with gardens of all sizes are encouraged to participate in this year’s competition. This invitation is also extended to all commercial and industrial businesses. And if your neighbour has a garden that is the envy of the street, don’t forget that you can nominate them for their beautification efforts!
Little gardener’s are also encouraged to showcase their green thumbs! The “Little Bloomers” Container Gardening Contest is open for children ranging in age from from 2-5 and 6-10. There will be an opportunity to showcase their unique and colourful efforts during the community luncheon with our visiting judges at City Hall on Wednesday, July 26th at 12:30.

PLEASE NOTE: THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR THE 2012 COMMUNITIES IN BLOOM PROGRAM IS FRIDAY, JUNE 22, 2012. ALL PARTICIPATION FORMS RECEIVED AFTER THE DEADLINE WLL BE INCLUDED IN THE 2012 PROGRAM. DEADLINE FOR LITTLE BLOOMERS CONTAINER CONTEST IS JULY 18, 2012.
