Youth Health Resources

The City of Barrie has many organizations that can help youth with any health-related issues or concerns. Below is a categorized list of resources to help youth dealing with health issues including:

General Health
Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit's Your Health Connection "Your Health Connection links you to health unit programs and services, from healthy living to child development, vaccinations to safe water, infectious diseases to injury prevention, sexual health to dental care and much more."
 
Mental Health
Barrie and Community Family Health Team (BCFHT) Mental Health Services "Our Mental Health Therapists and Psychiatrists are qualified professionals who will work with you in a short-term, focused, and confidential manner to find solutions."
Mental Health and Addiction Services of Simcoe County Youth Services
 
Youth services include: Early Psychosis Intervention Program (EPI); Case Management; Addiction Counselling.
Sexual Health
Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit: The Phakz: Sexual Health Provides sexual health information for teenagers and young adults.
Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit Sexual Health Clinics Public health nurses offer confidential counselling and information about: birth control; pregnancy counselling; sexually transmitted infections; HIV testing including anonymous testing; sexuality and relationship support and referrals.
Aids Committee of Simcoe County Supports those who are infected, affected and at risk of acquiring HIV/AIDS to help improve the quality of lives. Offering individual counseling, case management/referrals, support groups, advocacy and prevention/education.
 
Pregnancy
Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit: I'm Pregnant "Your health before you become pregnant and during your pregnancy is very important. Find links to information to help you learn how to give your baby the best start possible."
The Barrie Pregnancy Resource Centre Providing "accurate information and non-judgmental, confidential support as you explore your options. Our trained, female support workers take the time to listen to you. All of our services are free. You do not have to face your situation alone."
Barrie and Community Family Health Team (BCFHT) Prenatal and Well Baby Program "The PNWB Program provides prenatal and well baby care for women and children (up to the age of 6 years) without a family doctor in the Barrie area."
 
Drugs & Alcohol
Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit: The Phakz: Drugs & Alcohol Provides drugs and alcohol information for teenagers and young adults.
Mental Health and Addiction Services of Simcoe County Addiction Services: Youth Program "Provides early intervention to youth, while assisting in making healthy choices regarding substance use."
