Fireworks can only be set off on the following (single calendar) days: Victoria Day, Canada Day, New Year's Day, and for the duration of the recognized Lunar New Year and Diwali holidays. Barrie COVID-19 Emergency Measures By-law helps protect the health and safety of residents. The by-law prohibits certain activities and regulates physical distancing to help contain the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
The City needs the support of Barrie businesses and residents to respect the health restrictions. Enhanced proactive inspections to ensure businesses are meeting all health and safety requirements and regulations are taking place.
Businesses must operate in compliance with the advice, recommendations and instructions of the
Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, including recommendations and instructions on physical distancing, cleaning and disinfecting.

firstname.lastname@example.org. A Municipal Law Enforcement Officer will investigate the complaint to ensure compliance and may lay charges when appropriate. For emergency matters, please call 911.
Complaints related to non-compliance with COVID-19 emergency orders are tracked and addressed by City of Barrie Municipal Law Enforcement Officers in collaboration with the SMDHU Public Health Inspectors and the
Barrie Police Service.
The province has provided authority to all enforcement and provincial offences officers, including the Ontario Provincial Police, local police forces, enforcement officers, and provincial workplace inspectors to issue tickets to individuals who do not comply with the
stay-at-home order, or those not wearing a mask or face covering indoors as well as retail operators and companies who do not comply with Provincial regulations. Those who decide not to abide by orders may be subject to set fines and/or prosecution.
In addition, all enforcement personnel have the authority to temporarily close a premise and disperse individuals who are in contravention of an order and will be able to disperse people who are gathering, regardless whether a premise has been closed or remains open such as a park or house.
Enforcement Services administers and enforces City by-laws relating to business licensing, animal control, parks, signs, smoking, fireworks, firearms, motorized snow vehicles, snow removal, retail sales on municipal property, tree cutting, livestock evaluation, and parking on all city streets, fire routes and handicapped zones.
The section also administers and enforces all aspects of lottery licensing including the review and approval of applications, issuance of licences, review and analysis of reports, investigations and enforcement in accordance with the Criminal Code and Order-in-Council.
