The Recreation and Culture Department is comprised of three branches: Recreation and Culture Facilities, Recreation and Culture Programs and Recreation and Culture Business Services. The Department's mission is to build vibrant, healthy, active and connected communities by providing facilities and programs that give all Barrie residents an opportunity to participate in recreational and cultural activities.
Reporting to the Manager of Recreation and Culture Facilities, the Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that their assigned portfolio of facilities is operated and maintained in a safe and cost-efficient manner, and compliance with all relevant codes, regulations and legislations. The Supervisor also identifies, evaluates, and pursues opportunities for advancing the sustainability of the facilities, and assists the Manager in responsibly planning for future repair, renewal, and growth-related recreation facility needs.
The Supervisor of Recreation Facilities leads, supervises, and administers an assigned facility team of coordinators, operators, client service supervisors and clerks, and ensures the necessary procedures, systems and resources are in place to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of this team. Acting as a champion for the Council, Corporate, Divisional, and Departmental mission, values, and goals, the Supervisor ensures the work of the facility team is aligned with and furthers these strategic priorities.
The Supervisor is responsible for drafting the annual operating and capital budgets for their assigned facilities section; monitoring financial transactions and reports related to program revenues and expenditures; preparing reports, statistics, and presentations as needed; and maintaining effective communications and relationships with all stakeholders.
