Market Precinct Task Force
On March 22, 2021,
Barrie City Council approved a motion that included the establishment of a Market Precinct Task Force.
Revitalizing the west end of Downtown Barrie is an urgent priority for City Council. The key mandate of the Market Precinct Task Force was to report to General Committee with a plan for investments in the economy and in public spaces in the west end of Downtown Barrie.
On February 14, 2022, Council endorsed in principle the concept of a Barrie Bayside Market Area centered around the conversion of the existing transit terminal on Maple Avenue to a year-round market and the construction of a new building nearby to house the Barrie Farmers' Market.
