On occasion, Barrie City Council invites applications from citizens who desire to have their names considered for appointment to advisory committees. Vacancies are posted on this page & communicated via This Week in Barrie, Facebook, and Twitter.

Barrie City Council invites applications from citizens who desire to have their name considered for appointment to the following committees:

Environmental Advisory Committee

The mandate of the Committee is to promote the protection, maintenance and as of the environment within the community and to provide advice concerning environmental policy, planning and sustainability.

The City of Barrie is seeking to appoint one (1) citizen for a terms to expire on November 30, 2018.

Applications containing details regarding the necessary qualifications and applicable experience for the above appointment must be submitted using the prescribed application form and may be directed to the undersigned via mail, fax 705-739-4243, scanned and email to cityclerks@barrie.ca no later than 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2017

Accessibility Advisory Committee

This is a statutory committee, under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005.  The Committee provides advice to council about the requirements and implementation of accessibility standards and the preparation of accessibility reports and such other matters for which the council may seek its advice, reviews site plans and drawings described in section 41 of the Planning Act that the committee selects; and performs all other functions that are specified in the regulations.  The City of Barrie is seeking to appoint one (1) citizen for a term ending November 30, 2018.

Under the AODA, a majority of the members of the committee shall be persons with disabilities.
