Mayor’s Office - "Committed to Service Excellence"

I, Jeff Lehman, Mayor of the City of Barrie hereby proclaim
March 11, 2015 asWorld Plumbing Day
WHEREAS; The Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating and the World Plumbing Council and related organizations around the world are joining together on March 11, 2015 to raise awareness of the importance of proper plumbing in relation to protecting the planet and it's citizens; and
WHEREAS; CIPH is a not-for-profit association, whose members include manufacturers, distributors, and allied companies who directly employ more than 20,000 Canadians; and
WHEREAS; With the increased global focus on climate change the plumbing industry around the world, across Canada, and right here in Barrie plays an important role with regards to water conservation, use and reuse issues, and the installation and maintenance of proper plumbing equipment; and
WHEREAS; Our city, province and country is extremely fortunate to have trustworthy plumbing systems, equipment and fixtures for all uses.  The World Health Organization estimates that over 3 million children under the age of 5 die each year due to water related diseases: simple plumbing solutions could make all the difference in saving lives. An unacceptably high proportion of the world population does not have access to safe water or to effective sanitation systems.
THEREFORE, I, Jeff Lehman, Mayor of the City of Barrie, do hereby proclaim March 11, 2015 as “World Plumbing Day.”

- Jeff Lehman, Mayor of the City of BARRIE
