THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF BARRIE Mayor’s Office - "Committed to Service Excellence" I, Jeff Lehman, Mayor of the City of Barrie hereby proclaimDecember 20-27, 2021 asSalvation Army Week WHEREAS; The Salvation Army is the largest non-governmental provider of social services in Canada, providing food, clothing and shelter to those who need it most in 400 Canadian communities, helping more than 1.9 million Canadians; and WHEREAS; Through its shelter program, community meals, life-skills training, pastoral care, emergency services and the provision of practical assistance, The Salvation Army in Barrie provides much needed help and hope to our most vulnerable and marginalized members of society; and WHEREAS; Its annual Christmas Kettle campaign seeks to raise $625,000 for its social programs to battle poverty, loneliness and hunger by having hundreds of masked bell ringers volunteering in today’s COVID-19 climate to collect financial donations throughout our great City of Barrie. THEREFORE, I, Jeff Lehman, Mayor of the City of Barrie, do hereby proclaim December 20 to December 27, 2021 as "Salvation Army Week" in the City of Barrie and encourage everyone to dig deep and financially support The Salvation Army during this holiday season.
