Mayor’s Office - "Committed to Service Excellence" I, Barry Ward, Deputy, Mayor of the City of Barrie hereby proclaimMay 9-13, 2022 asEconomic Development WeekWHEREAS; Economic development includes creating programs and activities that improve the economic well-being and quality of life for a community, and WHEREAS; Economic developers provide resources and supports that create, retain, and expand jobs that facilitate economic growth, and WHEREAS; Economic developers stimulate and expand entrepreneurism and small business in order to help establish the next generation of new businesses, which is the foundation of the local economy, and WHEREAS; Economic developers partner with industries, educational institutions, and key community partners to help foster an effective business climate and meet the needs of businesses, and WHEREAS; Invest Barrie supports new and existing Barrie businesses, entrepreneurs, and arts and culture related organizations to help them grow and succeed. THEREFORE, I, Barry Ward, Deputy Mayor of the City of Barrie, do hereby proclaim May 9 to May 13, 2022, as “Economic Development Week.”
