PRESS RELEASEBarrie’s JEBCO Secures Equipment Manufacturing Contracts in Ontario’s Mining Sector
Wednesday, October 5, 2011

The City of Barrie celebrates local business success.  JEBCO will process nearly 2 million pounds of steel through their Barrie facility as they fulfill the contracts they have secured for two of Ontario’s mines resulting in increased employment and supply opportunities for local businesses.

A proud Canadian manufacturer operating in the City of Barrie, JEBCO is a global leader in the manufacturing of metal fabricated process equipment for the mining, water treatment and petro-chemical industries.  JEBCO has successfully been awarded capital equipment manufacturing contracts with Detour Gold, a new mine opening on Canada’s largest undeveloped gold resource 180 kilometers northeast of Cochrane as well as VALE, who’s operations in Sudbury are among the largest in the world.

“This is a great win for JEBCO and our community,” says Mayor Jeff Lehman. “Not only is JEBCO increasing its number of high quality industrial jobs, the economic spin-off to local companies supporting JEBCO with materials and supplies will result in even more jobs and business growth in Barrie.”

In 2011 alone, JEBCO has added 40 new staff to its team and is looking for an additional 10-15 team members to address its continued growth and commitments into 2012 and 2013. “As a growing and expanding company, we are looking to add staff that will be part of our team for the long haul.  Skilled trades such as welders, fitters and project managers familiar with medium to heavy steel fabrications are the ideal candidate” says company President, Brett Murray.

Over the coming months, JEBCO will be a hotbed of production activity in their 100,000 square foot facility on Ellis Drive in Barrie.  “Just these two projects alone will require 85-100 flatbed standard and wide-load transports to deliver the approximately 13,500 pounds of steel leaving the facility daily,” says Murray. “The support of our exceptional staff and local suppliers will be the key to successfully fulfilling these contracts.”

The first shipment date for these projects is expected by October 30th, 2011.  JEBCO is accepting resumes for employment via their website at
