PRESS RELEASECongratulations Jim Sales!
Friday, July 13, 2012

On Thursday July 12, 2012, Toronto City Council named James (Jim) Sales as their new Fire Chief for the City of Toronto.  Jim has been the General Manager of Community Operations since 2008 (which included responsibility for the oversight of Barrie Emergency Fire Service). Prior to joining Barrie, he was the Commissioner of Community and Fire Services in Markham, the Markham Fire Chief between 2000 and 2001 and the City of Edmonton’s Fire Chief from 1998 to 2000.

“Jim will be a big loss to the organization and the City. He was extremely committed to achieving excellence in service delivery and was very community minded.   Jim has a wealth of knowledge that will be very hard to replace” stated Carla Ladd, CAO. “We wish Jim the very best on his new endeavor.”

“Although I will miss Barrie, I am proud and honoured to have been selected as the new Fire Chief for Toronto Fire Services.  I look forward to returning once again to the Fire Hall,” commented Jim Sales.

Jim Sales’ last day with the City will be confirmed shortly, at which time a full internal and external recruit will be conducted to fill his position.
