PRESS RELEASEIt’s Time to Celebrate Barrie!
Wednesday, May 29, 2013

It’s Barrie’s unique community celebration, and it’s getting underway this weekend.  Celebrate Barrie will take on special significance this year as the city is marking its 160th anniversary.

This free festival runs from 10:00am to 5:00pm at Centennial Park and will feature a variety of hands on activities provided by over 50 local community groups.  Celebrate Barrie also features: inflatables, rides and games, snakes and reptiles, large interactive balls called BodyZorbs, a petting zoo, a rock climbing wall, two stages programmed with amazing local talent, Barrie Police, Barrie Fire and CFB Borden displays, and so much more! There’s something to entertain the kid in everyone.

The Barrie Youth Battle of the Bands kicks-off Friday night beginning at 7:00pm on the Star Stage located at Centennial Beach.  This free concert will feature some of Barrie’s most talented up-and-coming bands with members aged from 11-19 competing for great prizes.

Live entertainment will be provided throughout the day featuring a special performance by the Baytowne Big Band on Saturday afternoon at 4:00pm.

After a busy day at Celebrate Barrie, bring your blankets and lawn chairs to Centennial Beach for a family night under the stars to watch a free movie.  Presented in partnership with the Barrie Film Festival, this year’s outdoor film will feature ‘Despicable Me’ beginning at dusk (approximately 9:15pm) on Saturday night.

This event runs rain or shine so we hope to see you at Celebrate Barrie!  For a full schedule of events, please click here.
