(Barrie, ON) – The City of Barrie is offering select instructional classes beginning October 5 at Allandale Recreation Centre, Holly Community Centre and East Bayfield Community Centre, as well as online options.
A limited number of instructional recreation classes will be available including swimming lessons, art, guitar, dance, Spanish and music lessons, and additional fitness classes. The City is also offering online instructional classes for kids centered around technology topics such as animation, coding, 3D printing, web design, and video game creation.
Registration is now open for classes, and residents and non-residents can register online at play.barrie.ca.
The health and safety of program participants and City staff is our top priority. This includes extra precautions like enhanced cleaning of high-touch areas, smaller class sizes, and physical distancing. There are also new protocols in place for swimming lessons, including the requirement for children in some lessons to be accompanied by a parent/guardian in the pool during the lesson. Participants must follow all stated health and safety protocols while using recreation facilities and participating in the programs.
City recPASS memberships are available to purchase at all locations, and existing recPASS users are able to use their membership for activities currently offered.
More information about the reopening of the remainder of the City's recreation and community facilities will be shared as it become available. The City continues to follow the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit's guidelines on the safe reopening of facilities.
