(Barrie, ON) The City of Barrie is partnering with the Barrie Advance by sponsoring a special edition of the newspaper in support of local businesses on April 8. The edition will reflect on the changes and challenges of the past year and salute the innovation and resiliency in Barrie's business community. The City is making a financial contribution to the special edition that will offset ad costs, so local businesses can market directly to consumers in a cost-effective way.
“The City is committed to investing in supporting local businesses and economic recovery, while continuing to promote shopping local," said Mayor Jeff Lehman. “Barrie businesses will have the opportunity to purchase discounted ad space, and the special feature will also showcase the supports we have available to businesses, how to get help for COVID-related costs and how we are bringing Barrie together through our economic recovery plan."
“The Barrie Advance is excited to present this opportunity with the City of Barrie to our local business community," said Elise Allain, general manager, Simcoe County at Star Metroland Media. “After what has been an exceptionally challenging year for so many, it is so nice to have the ability to help local businesses with this generous support from the City and ensure even the hardest impacted industries have the ability to advertise again. This special feature will highlight these businesses to our readers as well as reinforce the importance of shopping and supporting local."
With the City offsetting costs, local businesses can purchase ads at a 75 per cent cost reduction, and businesses can participate for as little as $99.
The special feature in the Barrie Advance is part of a larger initiative supported by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, which will see features in support of local business in Metroland publications provincewide on April 8.
Interested businesses can inquire and purchase discounted ad space for the feature by contacting Elise Allain at firstname.lastname@example.org or 705-241-6362.
