The City of Barrie presents Celebrate Barrie, our kick-off to the summer festival season! Join us at Centennial Park along the beautiful shores of Kempenfelt Bay on Saturday, June 1st. Experience live music, heritage village, family fun zone, local vendor marketplace, community displays, outdoor film, and much more.
Celebrate Barrie has always been about showcasing the amazing things Barrie has to offer and this year we want to take it to the next level! We are on the hunt for community organizations, perfromers, and businesses from Barrie and area that offer unique experiences, do things different, and are helping to shape Barrie into an exciting, inclusive, and diverse community.
Community groups and local not-for-profit organizations interested in connecting with the community are invited to submit. Celebrate Barrie is a great opportunity to promote your organization - its programs, services, and events - to Barrie and area visitors and residents in a free, fun environment.
To be eligible to participate, community groups and not-for-profit organizations must provide a free activity and serve or be based in Barrie & area. Think outside the box and be unique, fun, and engaging! For 2019, special consideration will be given to organizations offering new experiences, showcasing community diversity, and providing activities for people of all ages and abilities.
To help, we're offering a Community Engagement Workshop open to all interested organizations on Friday March 22nd, 5pm at the Five Points Theatre. Interested community groups are encouraged to attend - we think you'll learn a lot that you can use in preparing your proposed activity for Celebrate Barrie, as well as in all of your other community outreach activities!
If interested in being considered for a space at Celebrate Barrie and/or registering for the Community Engagement Workshop, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and include information about your organization (background and mandate), contact information, and your idea for a unique opportunity. Submissions from community groups will be accepted until Friday, April 5th at 4:30pm.
The Celebrate Barrie Entertainment Committee is now accepting applications from local performers. We're looking to create an amazing and diverse line-up to showcase the best of Barrie! Performers of all kinds are invited to submit - bands, individual musicians and performers, choirs, dance groups, theatre companies, and more. Submissions from Barrie or the immediate surrounding area (Innisfil, Oro-Medonte, etc.) will be considered.
To be considered, please submit a bio, contact info, and a few examples of recent audio/video for the committee to review. Examples must be included in order to be considered and can be submitted by CD/DVD, as an email attachment, or a link to an EPK, YouTube channel, or other website. Submissions from performers will be accepted until Friday, April 5th at 4:30pm and can be sent to email@example.com or dropped off at the Creative Economy Department (56 Mulcaster Street).
Local entrepreneurs interested in connecting with over 10,000 visitors and residents of Barrie are encouraged to participate in and partner with Celebrate Barrie! Thet event is a great opportunity to promote your business, products, and services to Barrie and area residents in a free, fun environment. To increase your exposure, we encourage businesses to provide a free, unique, and engaging activity. For 2019, special consideration will be given to businesses offering unique experiences for people of all ages and abilities.
Not sure how to get the most of this opportunity? We're offering a Community Engagement Workshop open to all interested local businesses on Friday March 22nd, 5pm at the Five Points Theatre. New for 2019, the City of Barrie is also accepting applications from local food trucks, food entrepreneurs, and restaurants for an opportunity to be a part of a new food market. We're looking to create a market area where visitors can try new foods and sample local flavour. Submissions from Barrie or the immediate surrounding area (Innisfil, Oro-Medonte, etc.) will be considered.
If interested in being considered, please submit information about your business to email@example.com, including a product list or menu, contact information, and details of your event set-up (food truck, tent, cooking equipment, etc.).
