The project includes the removal and disposal of the existing concrete road surface and the partial depth road resurfacing of Bayfield St. from Coulter St. to Cundles Rd. The contract was awarded to Dufferin Construction. The overall budget is $1.86M including design and construction.

Construction is complete on Bayfield Street. The contractor will be removing signs and cleaning up the site in the next few days.
Due to weather and low overnight temperatures, the top course asphalt paving on Bayfield Street has been delayed until next week, paving is scheduled to begin Sunday, June 10, 2018, weather dependent. The forecasted air temperature is too low to place the asphalt to meet the asphalt specifications in the Contract. To ensure a quality product is installed, the work has been delayed until the temperature rises to meet specifications. The work should be completed by Friday, June 15, 2018.
Traffic signal loop installation will be completed by the end of this week. Top course asphalt was delayed due to weather. Top Course asphalt is now scheduled for night of Sunday June 3 and Monday, June 4, weather dependent. Permanent line painting will be completed after paving is completed. Sidewalk installation at the Bayfield Mall /Canadian Tire Gas Bar entrance is scheduled for Wednesday, June 6 and Thursday June 7. All construction should be completed by June 8, 2018.
The Contractor is scheduled to begin asphalt removal at the intersection of Cundles and Bayfield on Sunday, May 27. Base course asphalt is scheduled to be placed after the asphalt grinding is completed and should be completed by Tuesday, May 29. The traffic loops are scheduled to be installed Tuesday, May 29. Top course asphalt and permanent line painting is scheduled to be completed from Coulter to Cundles on Wednesday, May 30 and Thursday, May 31, weather dependent. Site cleanup and any remaining work will be completed the week of June 4, 2018.
Road grinding between Ferris and Cundles is scheduled to begin on Monday May 21. Base course asphalt is scheduled to be placed after grinding is completed. Concrete curb and sidewalk work will continue into next week. Asphalt removal at the Cundles & Bayfield intersection is scheduled for the week of May 28, 2018.
Concrete curb removal and replacement has been completed between Highway 400 and Ferris. Concrete removal and replacement will continue next week between Ferris and Cundles. Asphalt/Concrete road removal will begin Sunday night (May 13) / Monday morning (May 14) between Highway 400 and Ferris. All lifts of base asphalt should be placed between Highway 400 and Ferris by Thursday morning (May 17). One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained during the asphalt removal and placement.
The contractor began construction the week of May 6, 2018, starting with concrete curb and sidewalk removal and replacement. Asphalt/Concrete road removal began the week of May 13, 2018. The work should be completed by June 8, 2018, weather-dependent.
All work will be completed at night between the hours of 10pm and 6am, which the exception of during the concrete placement, work may start at 8pm.
All roads will remain open to through traffic during construction, although lane closures and restrictions can be expected in order to accommodate construction activities. We ask for your patience in such instances. Lane restrictions will occur between 9 pm and 6 am. Temporary line painting will be in place at the end of each shift.
All reasonable efforts will be made to maintain vehicle access to driveways. However, there may be some temporary interruptions to access during construction. Access will be restored as quickly as possible. Driveway entrances will be ramped to maintain access.
The Contractor will provide prior notice of any imminent access restrictions to the businesses and residents.
Pedestrian access to all homes and businesses will be maintained during construction.
The Contractor is required to conduct his work in a safe manner, including fencing of deep excavations, etc. We ask that you take extra caution during the construction period to ensure everyone’s safety.
