Project construction budget is $1.4M and expected completion date is July 2020. The work includes watermain replacement and asphalt road restoration.
The project includes the installation of a new larger diameter watermain which replaces the aging ductile iron watermain on Dyment Road. The larger size watermain is an upgrade to the existing water system and improves both domestic and fire flows. The project also includes repairs to a watermain crossing of Highway 400 at John Street.
The work started the week of April 20, 2020. The contractor has started installation of the watermain at Tiffin street and will be moving north towards john Street. The project is scheduled for completion in July 2020.
Sanitary sewer, hydro, telephone, cable TV, and gas services should not be affected by the construction, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
Water service may be interrupted for a short time during the watermain work. Notice of the timing of the water interruption will be provided.
Curbside Collection: On the normal curbside collection day, residents are asked to place all garbage, organics, recyclables and yard waste materials at the front of your property as usual by 7am (otherwise these items might not be picked up). The construction contractor will remove these items and take them to outside of the construction zone, for pickup by the City’s waste pickup contractor.
All reasonable efforts will be made to maintain vehicle access to driveways. However, there may be some temporary interruptions to access during construction. Access will be restored as quickly as possible. The Contractor will provide prior notice of any imminent access restrictions to the businesses and residents.
The Contractor is required to conduct his work in a safe manner, including fencing of deep excavations, etc. We ask that you take extra caution during the construction period to ensure everyone’s safety.
All road will be closed to commuting traffic for the duration of the construction. A detour route has been put in palce to direct traffic around the work zone. Access to all local businesses will remain open for at all times however short delays, lane closures and restrictions can be expected in order to accommodate construction activities. We ask for your patience in such instances.
