LT14 (JC Massey Way) Emergency Storm Water Pond Repair

The pond was constructed as part of the MTO interchange works for the Cundles / Duckworth in 2014. The pond liner and berm failed and no longer holds water, the City needs to make emergency repairs for Environmental Compliances.

Project Updates

​November 2021

Sierra Excavating has mobilized on site,  they have installed all sediment erosion control measures and are working on removing the excess sediment within the Pond.

Previous Updates

An Engineering Assessment was complete by Aquafor Beech Limited outlining the existing conditions of the pond and determining the route cause of the failure. The City agreed with their recommendations to reconstruct the pond with a 600mm clay liner.

This design phase was completed from February to September 2021 by Aquafor Beech Limited who completed the project on time and on budget.

Englobe was selected to complete the geotechnical and hydrogeological works for the project that were completed on time and on budget.

All environmental permits have been issued and received to commence construction.

The construction tender closed, and the project has been awarded to Sierra Excavating Enterprises Inc.

Sierra Excavating was awarded the contract for the construction works.

Affected Services

Water, Sanitary, Hydro, Telephone, Cable TV, and Gas services should not be affected by the upcoming construction, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic Impacts

The traffic impacts will be minimal along J.C. Massie Way and will be always open during construction.
