Tollendal Mill Road: Lovers Creek New Bridge
A new bridge will be constructed over Lovers Creek in place of the existing steel pipe culvert. This bridge will replace the rusted-out culvert to improve stormwater conveyance and environmental features under Tollendal Mill Road. The project also includes a new watermain crossing that will reinforce the distribution system.
The present corrugated-steel culvert under Tollendal Mill Road has deteriorated and is at the end of its useful life. Based on the
2019 Drainage Master Plan, the existing culvert was found to be undersized for the storm flows experienced in Lovers Creek.
Additionally, the creek banks in this area have suffered significant erosion that has damaged the natural habitat in the creek. Lastly, the new watermain installation in this project will connect the existing dead-ends on either side of the creek to create necessary looping in the water distribution system.
