This project – Blake St. to Kempenfelt Dr. – replaces aging infrastructure with new infrastructure that will provide services levels that are consistent with today’s standards.
All major construction works are complete. Top course asphalt is remaining and is anticipated to be completed by September
The contractor is finalizing schedule. Construction is anticipated to start before the end of May 2019. 2019 works include sidewalk construction and final grading as well as top coarse of asphalt pavement. It is anticipated that the remaining works should take approximately four weeks to complete once the 2019 construction has been initiated.
November 15. 2018All underground works are completed, with the exception of the watermain connection of the new watermain to the existing watermain at Blake Street. A road closure at Blake is expected for this connection. Detour route will be along Kempenfelt Drive.
Concrete sidewalk and asphalt works are planned for the week of November 18 to November 23, weather depending.
Ocober 25, 2018Sanitary sewer installation is generally complete. Watermain installation is nearing completion; watermain testing and commissioning has started. New water services will be connected after the watermain has been commissioned, which is anticipated for next week. Storm sewer installation is on-going. Road reconstruction will begin once the underground works are completed. Work is expected to be completed by the end of November, weather dependent.
September 28, 2018Construction has started. The temporary watermain has been installed. Sanitary sewer installation has commence and storm sewer installation will follow the sanitary sewer installation.
Hydro, gas, telephone and cable TV services should not be affected by the construction, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
There may be a minor distribution to sanitary servicing while the existing service is connected to the new service at property line.
Water service may be interrupted for just a short duration in order to switch the water service over from the old watermain system to the new watermain system. Notice of timing of any planned water interruption will be provided in advance of such occurrence.
Curbside collection will not be affected. On your normal curbside collection day, area residents are asked to place all garbage, organics, recyclables and yard waste materials at the front of the property as usual. The construction contractor will remove these items and take them to outside of the construction zone for pickup by the City’s waste contractor. Garbage cans, organic bins and recycling boxes will be returned to the property later that day.
Please mark your address on all of your containers.
Vehicle access to properties within the construction limits will be provided at almost all times throughout the construction period, however on various occasions direct access to driveways may be restricted. Access to driveways will be restored as quickly as possible after the work causing the restriction is completed.
Pedestrian access to properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the construction
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times.
The contractor is required to conduct his work in a safe manner, including fencing of deep excavations, etc. We ask that you take extra caution during the construction period to ensure everyone’s safety.
