Transportation Improvements
East of Bayview Drive to Huronia Road
The City of Barrie Multi-Modal Active Transportation Master Plan (MMATMP) identified Big Bay Point Road as key transportation corridor and recommended several transportation improvements to accommodate growth in Barrie to 2031.

May 2020: 100% Detailed Design under review by City.
Project Features
The Big Bay Point Road intersection at Bayview Drive is part of the
Harvie Road/Highway 400 Crossing construction project. The improvements to Big Bay Point Road will continue east from the current construction limits to Huronia Road.
The design improvements include:
- Four (4) 3.5 lanes – two each westbound and eastbound;
- Continuous 4.2m two-way left turn lane;
- 1.5m bicycle lanes with 0.5m buffer on both sides of the roadway;
- Variable boulevard widths;
- 1.8m sidewalk on South side only; and
- Replacement and improvement to local water and sanitary sewer services.
