The City of Barrie Multi-Modal Active Transportation Master Plan (MMATMP) identified Big Bay Point Road as key transportation corridor and recommended several transportation improvements to accommodate growth in Barrie to 2031.

Project Updates

May 2020: 100% Detailed Design under review by City.

Project Features

The Big Bay Point Road intersection at Bayview Drive is part of the Harvie Road/Highway 400 Crossing construction project. The improvements to Big Bay Point Road will continue east from the current construction limits to Huronia Road.

The design improvements include:

  • Four (4) 3.5 lanes – two each westbound and eastbound;
  • Continuous 4.2m two-way left turn lane;
  • 1.5m bicycle lanes with 0.5m buffer on both sides of the roadway;
  • Variable boulevard widths;
  • 1.8m sidewalk on South side only; and
  • Replacement and improvement to local water and sanitary sewer services.
