Lovers Creek Channel Rehabilitation
The Lovers Creek channel (adjacent to Brunton Park) is eroding the toe of the valley slope as it moves through a sharp bend.
As a safety precaution, the City installed a chain link fence in 2006 along the top of the valley slope to restrict public access to this area. The proposed design project requires rehabilitation works and could involve channel realignment, purchasing of land required to accommodate realignment of the creek and regrading of the valley slopes as required.
Project Updates
June 2020: 60% Detailed Design package under development.
Project Features
The objective of this project is:
- A retaining wall will be constructed along Lovers Creek to stabilize the existing 9m valley slope. The remaining slope will be regraded and revegetated to a stable inclination.
- The creek will be realigned using natural channel so that it does not continue to erode the base of the slope.
