The City is planning for the reconstruction of Poyntz St. The project is being prompted by the need to install a transmission watermain to service the east end of Barrie. The existing infrastructure along the roadway is also nearing the end of its useful life and requires replacement.
The project is expected to be tendered with construction expected to commencing in summer 2021. To reduce traffic congestion in the area the construction will be phased over two years (see
Generally, services will not be affected. Services such as Bell, Rogers, Enbridge, Alectra should not be affected. Occasional disruptions to the water supply may occur as the existing watermain and services to property line are being replaced.
The work will require a local road closure. Access to local traffic and emergency vehicles will be maintained through construction.
