Youth-Friendly Community

Barrie Youth Friendly Committee

The Barrie Youth Friendly Committee is a collaboration between the City and several youth-serving organizations, with a shared commitment to work together with Barrie’s youth, for Barrie’s youth.  In an effort to make Barrie one of the most youth friendly communities in Ontario, the committee has focused on #Taking Action : Working together for Barrie’s Youth 2016-2017

  1. We will continue to make affordable recreational programs available to youth 13-19;
  2. We will create “meaningful” volunteer experiences for Barrie’s high school students;
  3. We will give “voice” to Barrie’s youth;
  4. We will create “youth friendly” spaces for youth to work, play and volunteer;
  5. We will use the Playworks Application to enhance our committee’s actions.

The committee includes members from the City of Barrie, YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka, Youth Haven Barrie, Youth ReachSimcoe Muskoka District Health Unit Canadian Mental Health and Addiction Services of Simcoe County and Barrie Public Library.

If you are interested in getting involved, please feel free to contact the committee at
