Pop-up schedule completed for the summer 2021 season

Thanks for a great season! Look for the Summer Fun Trailer again in summer 2022. This pilot project featured a trailer, filled with outdoor sports equipment and a mobile skateboard park, that popped up in various City parks and recreation facilities throughout summer 2021. ​

Trailer Contents

All trailer contents are free to use and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must follow the City's Fair Play policy when using the contents.

Mobile Skateboard Park

The mobile skateboard park is a free drop-in opportunity, first come first serve​​d. There is a maximum of 10 participants per time slot and time slots are 30 minutes. Helmets are mandatory, and pads are optional but recommended. Scooters, rollerblades and skateboards are permitted on the park. Bikes are not permitted. Participants can also bring their own equipment to use on the mobile skateboard park. ​

Outdoor Sports Equipment

Equipment can be loaned out for free to use in the park on that day. Equipment is for all ages, and can be signed out by participants 12 years and older. Equipment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Spike Ball
  • Kan Jam
  • Ladder Golf Sets
  • Bocce Ball
  • Basketballs
  • Soccer Balls
  • Skateboards
  • Scooters
  • Helmets

COVID-19 Safety Precautions

  • Equipment will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized by staff in between each use.
  • Masks are not required when using the contents of the Summer Fun Trailer but are required when/if standing in line. 
  • If it's too crowded, participants are encouraged to come back and play. 
  • ​Participants are required to review COVID-19 screening questions prior to using the contents of the Summer Fun Trailer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How were the selected parks and facilities chosen?

To choose park and facility locations, Recreation & Culture Services staff reviewed City of Barrie locations for criteria including suitable paved parking, attached green space and some amenities like courts and washroom facilities. Staff reviewed locations with the intention to be close to as many local communities as possible throughout the summer.

Is access to the Summer Fun Trailer weather-dependent?

Yes. The Summer Fun Trailer may be closed during inclement weather or extreme heat. Updates/closures will be posted on this webpage, the Inclement Weather Hotline at 705-739-4215, and listed under weather-related closures.
