Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if I am having issues with the audio?

If you are having difficulties hearing the audio from the virtual class/program, please ensure that the volume on your device is turned up and not muted. If you are still having issues with the audio, we recommend using the “Chat” feature in Zoom to communicate to our instructor and staff to adjust the volume accordingly.

What can I do if I am having issues accessing and connecting?

If you have followed all the necessary steps to access the virtual class/program (i.e. creating a Zoom account, registering with the same email as your Zoom account, and installing the Zoom application), we recommend the following:

  • Ensure that you have a stable and reliable internet connection, especially if you are using WiFi
  • Download the latest Zoom application and/or install the latest updates for Zoom
  • Restarting your device (turning your device off and then back on)
  • Ensure you are signed into the correct Zoom account
  • Try connecting to the virtual fitness class on another device (computer, phone or tablet)
If you are still experiencing technical difficulties and would like assistance, please contact Jeddy Wong at Jeddy.Wong@barrie.ca.

Do participants have to have a webcam and/or microphone?

No.

All of our virtual fitness classes are in a webinar format meaning everyone will only see and hear the fitness instructor. Participants are encouraged to use the chat function to provide comments or ask questions during the class if they would like.

For virtual programs, we strongly encourage participation in the program with your camera on, but mic muted (unless speaking) to minimize background noise.

Do I need access to special equipment for the fitness programs?

The 45-minute virtual fitness classes offer a variety of workout intensities using minimal equipment. Please refer to the individual virtual fitness class descriptions for detail.

Are parents/guardians required to be present during the virtual recreation programs?

Programs for children under the age of 16 are expected to have a parent/guardian in the room or within earshot for the duration of the program. Staff may ask children to confirm that their parent/guardian is in the room. Upon registration, a parent/guardian phone number is required in the event that staff need to contact them.
