The City needs to make emergency repairs for Environmental Compliances to the JC Massey Way (LT14) Stormwater Pond.
The pond was constructed as part of the MTO interchange works for the Cundles / Duckworth in 2014. The pond liner and berm failed and no longer holds water.
An Engineering Assessment was complete by Aquafor Beech Limited outlining the existing conditions of the pond and determining the route cause of the failure. The City agreed with their recommendations to reconstruct the pond with a 600mm clay liner.
This project is currently in the design phase and the City has awarded the Engineering Design to Aquafor Beech Limited. The preliminary design was completed in January 2021, and the City anticipates the 90% submission in May 2021 with the final tender package completed by July 2021.
Englobe was selected to complete the geotechnical works for the project and are currently completing the boreholes and water monitoring for the project.
Water, Sanitary, Hydro, Telephone, Cable TV, and Gas services should not be affected by the upcoming construction, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
The traffic impacts will be confirmed during the 90% design, but only minor impacts are expected for this project.
