The Lovers Creek channel adjacent to Brunton Park is eroding the toe of the valley slope as it moves through a sharp bend. As a safety precaution, the City installed a chain link fence in 2006 along the top of the valley slope to restrict public access to this area.
The proposed design project requires rehabilitation works and could involve channel realignment, purchasing of land required to accommodate realignment of the creek and regrading of the valley slopes as required.
The tree removal is expected to begin during the week beginning March 7th so that the bird and bat nesting is not disrupted. It is expected that the in-creek construction works will begin in June 2022 so that the impacts to fisheries are minimized. The beginning of construction could change depending on the weather and other factors.
January 2022: Construction is planned for 2022. The tree removal will occur during the winter months so that the bird and bat nesting is not disrupted. In creek construction works will occur during the summer months so that the impacts to fisheries are minimized. It is expected that construction will begin in June but could change depending on the weather and other factors.

Traffic impacts from road closures are not expected as a result of this project. Brunton Park is expected to be impacted during construction, however, the playground equipment will be fenced off so that it may remain open during construction.
