New to Me Day

Clear the clutter! Find new treasures! Upcycle instead of creating garbage! Do you have items that are usable and would be a shame to throw out? Looking for some new finds?

New to Me Day (formerly Free Goods Exchange Day) resembles a garage sale, but without the money or hassle. Everything you place at the end of your driveway or at the edge of your lawn is FREE. Anyone can come by and take it away. Because there is no money exchanged, you don’t have to stick around. You can simply place your stuff at the curb and go. Just make sure to keep wanted items away from the curb. It's easy!

  • Do some spring cleaning and gather up items around your home that are no longer used. Toys, books, furniture, sporting goods, small appliances, tools, art, etc.
  • On the morning of June 8, place all usable goods on your curb and mark them with the New to Me Day poster (found on so that others know they are available for taking. You can also share the items you have available on the City's Facebook event page to show others what you're offering.
  • Did you find something great on New to Me Day? Share your haul on social media using #NewToMe!
  • Anything that does not find a new home must be taken back in by 9 p.m. that day as there will be no municipal collection. If you need to get rid of items, visit for more information on how you can properly do so.
