The contractor has completed base asphalt along Big Bay Point Road. Over the next month the contractor will be completing restoration work, traffic signals, sidewalks, and temporary pavement markings, with the road expected to be open to its new configuration by the end of October. The contractor will be returning in spring 2023 to place top asphalt and final pavement markings.
Occasional lane closures controlled by trained traffic control persons continue. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously through the construction zone and take the optional detours in place to avoid potential delays.
Expect traffic to be re-aligned to the final configuration by the end of the month.

The Contractor is continuing the road works along the north side of Big Bay Point Road, and along the north leg of Huronia Road. The current road closure on Huronia Rd will be in place until September 12, after which time the north leg of Welham Road will be closed from September 12 - 26. Although the sidewalk on the south side of Big Bay Point is nearly complete in some areas, it is not yet fully complete and remains closed to pedestrian traffic.

Over the next few weeks they will be connecting the existing services, followed by the road construction of the north half of Big Bay Point. Although the sidewalk on the south side of Big Bay Point is nearly complete in some areas, it is not yet fully complete and remains closed to pedestrian traffic.

The Contractor has recently completed the south half of the road construction and is expected to start reconstruction of the north half along with the watermain starting the week of June 6th. Traffic can expect an alignment shift from the north side of the road onto the newly constructed south side. The sidewalk on the south side of Big Bay Point is now complete; however it is not yet fully assumed by the City as it remains within an active construction site.

The contractor has resumed operations on site. Construction is currently focused on the south side of the road, with a shift to the north side expected at the beginning of the summer. Traffic will be temporarily shifted to the north but two lanes of traffic will remain through the work zone.

On site construction is progressing well. During the winter months the Contractor is proceeding with the temporary signals and permanent illumination upgrades along Big Bay Point Road. Underground infrastructure and road construction will resume in the spring. Utility relocations are wrapping up and will be complete before spring. Storm sewer and road construction has been completed at the west end of the project, and the Contractor has shifted its focus to the storm sewer between Huronia Rd and Welham Rd.
