Culture can be thought of as the beliefs attitudes, customs and practices of a people and place. For Barrie, culture is a celebration of its people's experience, heritage, human creativity, imagination and originality. It is found in the arts, media, crafts, heritage, urban design, business, and in our relationship to our landscape and creative endeavours in all economic sectors.
Theatres & Tickets
The City manages the Georgian Theatre and the downtown Five Points Theatre. Tickets can be purchased via online or by phone.
Arts Programs
The City offers a variety of arts programs to celebrate Barrie’s artists and enrich the cultural experience for everyone in the community.
Public Art
Public art is visual art existing in the public realm, including all works commissioned, purchased by, or donated to the City for publicly accessible spaces.
Poet Laureate
A literary ambassador who works to educate and promote poetry and the literary arts in Barrie.
First Floor Gallery
Exhibition space located at City Hall curated by Cultural Development staff with the assistance of local visual artists.
