Art on Transit is a public art initiative presenting unique digital artworks by local and Ontario-based visual artists, inspired by an original poem entitled, unexpected destinations, written by Barrie’s Poet Laureate, Tyneisha Thomas. The artwork is installed on high-profile bus shelters and featured in all ten wards of the city.
This project was facilitated by the Barrie Public Art Committee in partnership with Barrie Transit. It is considered temporary due to the lifespan of the vinyl applications which are expected to last a maximum of five years. The artworks on display contribute to civic pride, bring vibrancy to our city, and highlight artistic collaboration.
View the map of the artwork locations and ride Barrie Transit to see the entire series of images and consider the new perspectives presented in each shelter.
