Join the Barrie Legion for an inspiring student competition, where Simcoe County elementary and secondary school students showcase their multimedia and public speaking skills. The students will be presenting the stories of WWII veterans who served in the Canadian Armed Forces. The top three students will have the chance to present their work to a panel of judges and receive an award.
In 2025, we honour the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War with May 8th marking Victory in Europe Day (VE Day). More than 1,000,000 Canadians and Newfoundlanders served in the Second World War, with more than 40,000 paying the ultimate sacrifice. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 147 (Barrie) is commemorating the occasion with a series of events to honour and recognize our brave soldiers.
