Affected City services during the Thanksgiving Day holiday

(Barrie, ON) A number of services are affected in the City of Barrie on statutory holidays. The following City services will be affected on Thanksgiving Day (Monday, October 12, 2020):

Barrie Transit

There will be noBarrie Transit service on October 12.

Curbside Collection

There will be no garbage, organics, recycling and yard waste collection on Monday, October 12 in Barrie. Collection during the week of this holiday will occur one day later for the remainder of the week. Materials must be curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection day. Barrie's landfill is closed every Sunday and Monday. Visitbarrie.ca/CurbsideCollection for further details.

City Hall

Barrie City Hall will be closed on October 12.

Recreation & Community Centres

Allandale Recreation Centre, East Bayfield Community Centre and Holly Community Centre will be closed on October 12. To book a future time at the centres to swim, work out, take part in a fitness class, or to register for select programs, visitplay.barrie.ca.

Parking

Downtown parking (on-street and lots) is free on all statutory holidays. Barrie residents require a Resident Parking Pass in order to park for free at specific waterfront areas. Non-residents are charged $10/hour with a daily max of $50; waterfront paid parking is enforced 24/7/365. For more information, visitbarrie.ca/parking.

This Thanksgiving, theSimcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is advising that residents keep close contacts limited to only members of their household. They recommend that if you do gather, do it outside, follow the provincial restrictions, wear a mask or physical distance, and stay home if you are sick.
