Affected services during the Labour Day holiday in Barrie

A number of services are affected in the City of Barrie on statutory holidays. The following City services will be affected on Labour Day (Monday, September 5, 2022):​

Barrie Transit

Barrie Transit will run on a Sunday hourly service schedule on September 5.

Curbside collection

There will be no garbage, organics, recycling and yard waste collection on September 5 in Barrie. Collection will occur one day later throughout the rest of the week. Materials must be curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection day.

City Hall

Barrie City Hall will be closed on September 5.  

Recreation/community centres

Recreation/community centres will be closed on September 5. Summer hours for the City's largest centres (Allandale Recreation Centre, East Bayfield Community Centre, Peggy Hill Team Community Centre) end September 2; these centres will be open September 3 and 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Effective September 6, new hours for the City's largest three recreation/community centres will come into effect. Reminder: Fireworks are not permitted on Labour Day holiday weekend

Fireworks cannot be set off on the Labour Day holiday or surrounding days. Fireworks can only be set off on the following (single calendar) days: Victoria Day, Canada Day, New Year's Day, and for the duration of the recognized Lunar New Year and Diwali holidays, as per the Regulatory Matters By-law.
